I heard her laying in her crib and she said, "Hi."
So I sat up and said, "Hi."
I think I startled her because she did not move and stared at me. So I said, "It's Mommy," and then I laid back down.
Then I heard it: "Mommy." It was as clear as a bell.
I sat back up and looked around for big brother in the room to be calling me. No, he was not there. It was her! She said Mommy!
I ran out to tell G. He was nowhere to be seen but everything was still out - the coffee, milk, jam, iron... Maybe he ran out to buy us nice coffees and bread like I'd been wanting to do all week (but hadn't yet because I keep falling asleep too late to wake at a decent time). I couldn't wait to tell him! And have that nice toast and coffee.
Then I looked at the time.
It was 8:32.
I called him.
He was already at work.
So, now I have to muster up the energy to get everyone fed and dressed and out the door today, and to figure out what we're doing. I'm always too tired by the time we get the kids to bed (last night M at 11 and L at Midnight to study the map or get to talk to G who is trying to rest for work.)
Being a single parent in Belgium is getting to be a little lonely.
We were supposed to have a day as a family Monday but we missed out on that, thank you American Shithouse Airlines. We were supposed to have a day as a family Friday, but now he is consulting in the morning, thank you successful business. And now yet another client is coming out of the woodwork to try and book him for a beer tonight or lunch tomorrow.
Is anyone reading this thing?
