Will the real Mannekin Pis please stand up! (or Another cute L story)

On my other day 2 post, you will read that I took the kids to the Mannekin Pis statute early this afternoon.  For those of you who don't know, the Mannekin Pis is a famous Brussels statue of a little boy peeing.

I fully expected Mannekin Pis to be a huge hit, considering that L:
has just potty trained, and
- his #1 question about this trip was, "Will there be potties for me to go pee pee and poo poo?"

So, I was a little disappointed when I took him to the statue today, and he didn't really seem to notice it.

Fast forward to tonight:

I walked in from the grocery store at 9 pm.  G comes out excitedly to greet me, and says, "You missed all the action tonight.  L tried to pee on the little potty standing up. I don't know where he got that. He's never done that."

My response: "Oh! The Mannekin Pis!"

G and I both had a good laugh.

So, here I am, feeling a little fed up.
I've been traveling for 5 days. We've been in Brussels now for 2. I've generally been trapped in the apartment with the kids and feeling like it's a huge waste to be here because they aren't getting anything out of it and neither am I, and then L goes and tells us, in his own little 3 year old way, that he is learning, that he is seeing, that he is soaking it up.

I'm going to bed tonight feeling a little more motivated to show my kids the world tomorrow.

And amused that my little boy learned to pee standing up for the most famous little boy peeing standing up in the whole world.
